islands
Ota Fine Arts is delighted to present a group exhibition "islands", focusing on small works on paper. The title of the exhibition ‘islands’ represents the Asian archipelago which is close in distance to each other while having their own unique cultures. Likewise, this exhibition showcases artists from East Asia who have similar backgrounds and yet they have developed their distinctive worldviews.

Yuken Teruya
Yuken Teruya makes very fine cuts in the paper bags of fast-food restaurants and famous brands to create silhouettes of trees modeled after actual trees that line the roadsides. It can be said that this process is an attempt to evoke and regenerate the memory of wood into paper, which is an industrial product made originally made from wood in the first place. "Notice-Forest" is a work that quietly warns one of mass-consumerism and the modern society that repeatedly destroys forests.
