I look at the indescribable tension around what exactly overseas workers do from the point of view of the family left at home. It's mysterious - imagining what they are up to at any given moment.
The three large paintings of chambermaids look at the relationship between the serving, and the being served. I turn my attention to the serving, rather than the served. The food that they serve is not the food of their culture, but a perfect version of the culture in which they work. The perfection of the food represents the irony that they are providing the perfect version of the culture that they themselves don't belong to.Exhibitions
