さわのビデオ作品は、繊細に構成された夢のような風景を作り出します。そこでは、人、モノ、動物が、現実と想像の世界を行ったり来たりし、観る者を詩的かつ心理的な世界に誘います。 2018年のビデオ作品《absent》は、異種交配によって生まれたキャラクターたちが物語を構成しています。鳥の羽が生えたスプーンが荒涼とした風景を横切るように羽ばたき、足の生えたはさみが円を描いてぐるぐると歩き回ります。また、ティーセットたちが華やかな部屋を行進する一方、その部屋の壁はゆっくりと解体されてゆきます。 さわは、見慣れた風景を奇妙なものに変容させます。それは、記憶喪失によって錯綜する記憶と現実の不在／重複／再解釈を反映するためのプロセスです。

The 2018 video work Absent features a cast of hybrid characters that populate an uncertain narrative; spoons sprouting bird’s wings fly across a bleak landscape, a ghostly pair of scissors paces continuously in a circle, a set of teacups march across an ornate room, where the walls are slowly drifting apart. Sawa transforms the familiar into the strange, a process that reflects the intricacies of memory loss; the unexpected lapses, absences, overlaps, and reinterpretations of memory and reality.
